Newcomers and Community Club of Sumner County presents Garlands and Glitter!
Enjoy an evening of fashion and fun at the annual fashion show evening event with live entertainment and fashions by Dillard’s! The event begins with early bird shopping in the Glass Room followed by a seated dinner and fashion show with Emcee Lelan Statom of News Channel 5, an Emmy award winning meteorologist who has been helping Mid-Southerners start their day for more than 15 years! End the evening with live entertainment by musical artist Chris Golden.
6:00 – 10:00 p.m. with early bird shopping at 5:00 p.m.

Gallatin Shalom Zone is an organization designed to engage residents of Gallatin’s Clearview community in the work of healing, peace, reconciliation, justice, and love so that we can grow beyond our current circumstances and, together, live as the beloved community. A densely populated inner-city neighborhood, Clearview residents face challenges of poverty, crime, and inadequate education.
Kick-off the holiday season with the inaugural Turkey Run! This timed event will start at the Gallatin Civic Center and run through Triple Creek Park, and down the Greenway! You can sign up for the 1 mile walk/run a 5K walk/run or a 10K run. All participants will receive a moisture wicking t-shirt and a medal. Prizes will be awarded for the top Male/Female finisher in each run. A special award will be given to the best dressed runner and the most enthusiastic team. So grab your friends, form a team and get your feathers on for the most exciting run in November.
Event details and schedule:
Packets can be picked at the Gallatin Civic Center on Friday, November 4th from 10am-6pm. Packets can also be picked up at 6:30 a.m. on the day of the race.
The 10K will start at 7:15 a.m., followed by the 5K at 7:30 a.m. and the 1 Mile Fun Run at 7:45 a.m. Free parking is available.
The 2016 Sumner County Artists and Artisans Studio Tour will be open during the first weekend of November at the following times:
-November 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
-November 6 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The artists/artisans whose work is on exhibit during this weekend are members of The Art Guild of Sumner County, which is affiliated the Gallatin Arts Council and also the Hendersonville Arts Council. Both organizations provide guidance and support to all artists in Sumner County.
The Hendersonville Performing Arts Company announces auditions for Charlotte’s Web, adapted by Joseph Robinette and based on the book by E.B. White. HPAC’s presentation of Charlotte’s Web will be visually different from traditional shows, and we are looking for all ages and types to come audition. Also, if you have ever been a featured dancer but think there is no part for you in this show, think again! Headshots and resumes are welcome but not necessary. Be prepared for a cold read from the script and bring a willingness to try new ideas. Dancers and acrobats please prepare a short routine (1 minute or less). Auditions will be held November 7th and 8th at 6:30 p.m. at the theater, located in the City Square Shopping Center, 260 West Main Street, Suite 204 in Hendersonville. Christmas Trees of Excellence is an elegant event where five 7 foot trees, donated by Vickerman Company, are decorated by local and nationally known designers including, Robin Meyer of Robin’s Nest Interior, theme is “Santa’S Workshop,” Lynn Baker of Arizonia who is a Designer and Artist, “A South West Christmas,” Celeste Davidson of GoGo Gormet, theme is “Marci Gras Christmas”, Brenda Sevigny, Designer for Rainbow School, theme is “Over The Rainbow” and Dillard’s In house designer theme “Christmas USA.”
Trees are embellished with gifts with all the decorations donated by the designers. Finished trees are then sold during a Silent Auction and Reception.
During the evening event enjoy a historic walk, light catering, art, music and door prizes by local businesses, including: Go Go Gormet, Center Point Wines and Liquors, and on piano, music by Debbie Watts.
Designers may arrive to decorate Nov. 10th beginning at 10:00 a.m. and must be completed by 3:00 p.m. Trees will be judge by dignitaries on Friday, Nov. 11th at 3:30 p.m. followed by a silent auction and reception at Historic Monthaven from 6-9 p.m.
