On the Saturday before the eclipse, thousands of visitors will be in Gallatin looking for an experience before the big event. On the sidewalks of downtown Gallatin, bluegrass musicians are encouraged to bring your group or join in with others to bluegrass standards. Children ages 7 (must be born in 2009) to 11 years old are invited to audition to perform in “Nashville’s Nutcracker: Celebrating 10 Years!” this December. This is the only opportunity the general public will have to perform on stage with Nashville Ballet and the Nashville Symphony this season. Open auditions will be held Sundays from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on August 20, August 27 and September 10 at Nashville Ballet. Interested attendees only need to attend one audition. No dance experience is required; performance training will be provided.
On Sunday, August 20th the Portland Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Farm to Table Dinner under the lights on Main Street catered by Carolyn Berry. Live music & appetizers will start at 7:00pm with dinner beginning at 7:30pm. The acoustic duo of Dean & Jerry will be providing entertainment at the event. The City of Goodlettsville and Goodlettsville Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a kick-off party on Sunday evening before their eclipse party on Monday. The community is encouraged to come out for music and food trucks on the grounds of the Bowen House in Moss-Wright Park from 5-7pm. The “Get Eclipsed in Goodlettsville,” event on Monday, August 21 will also be held at Moss-Wright Park from 9am-4pm. Eclipse-goers will receive a free pair of protective glasses to view the Eclipse. To cool things off, the Goodlettsville Fire Department will be hosting “water wars” at 10:30am.
Millions of Americans will see the sight of a lifetime on August 21, 2017, when a rare total solar eclipse sweeps the nation from Oregon to South Carolina.
